The sewing group meets weekly, at the grange or at someone's house. It's created a lot of friendships and has become a great way to meet people. And learn to sew, knit, embroider, and to share the local news.
Knitting, gossiping, sewing, learning, teaching, sharing life!

Nancy Herr and I went hiking on the Bold Coast. The entire hike is about 10 miles, but we did 6. We hiked to the ocean, than along the coast, then in a big rectangle through forest and bog back to where the trail began. The entire hike is hilly, slippery (where it's wet) and "challenging." About half way to the ocean I twisted my ankle. At first it was fine, but by about mile 4 or 5 it really hurt. Such is life. Wouldn't have missed it. I was really lucky in that it must have been a fairly minor sprain. When I got home, we looked on the internet for diagnosis and treatment and decided it wasn't too serious. Cara came over with the ace bandage and wrapped me up, put ice on it and really pampered me. Edith came up to give counsel and advice.
Seeing the Bold Coast makes me appreciate nature all the more. Beautiful, amazing, indescribable.
Pictures can't o justice to this place.

The Friendship Tomato

The Friendship tomato

Edith and I have become good friends. She is big on fixing up the outside of our little house, especially the landscaping. I do more on the inside. In honor of our friendship, we've been passing the tomato. I planted cherry tomatoes on the East side of the house. They get sun but apparently not enough. The foliage on the plants is so heavy that it is shading the tomatoes. Maybe I planted them too close to each other. There's a fine row of cherry tomatoes hanging off one plant which gets more sun than the rest. The tomatoes are turning red two by two.
One day Edith announced she'd eaten one of the tomatoes and it was fabulous! So the next tomato was mine. When it was ripe enough, I ate it and had to agree- one of the best tomatoes I've ever eaten! Now we take turns picking and eating our little tomatoes. Today Edith went to the dike, where vendors have a Farmer's Market. So guess what she just gave me. It's a little bigger than the ones I'm growing and I'm saving it for later. I've dubbed it the Friendship Tomato. So, to all my friends I wish you tomatoes. May all your tomatoes be red, juicy, sweet, and just as good as ours.

This was a major event on Free St. The cross had been missing from Holy Name Church, next door to our house. One Sunday the truck and crew were "borrowed" from the Congregational Church where it had been working to raise the cross at Holy Name.
